MOURNING SONG Sleeplessness due to mourning the death of a loved one is a very sensitive topic. If you are in this situation, no one but God can fully understand the depth of the pain, hurt and loss you are going through, I express our deepest compassion and love for you at this time and am praying for the Lord's sustaining power to uphold you even as I am writing this.
There are many emotions that you will experience over the coming months...hurt, fear, anger, confusion and depression as you deal with the reality of your loss, consistently trying to hinder your sleep.
But as the tides of these feelings come and go, the Holy Spirit also wants you to be encouraged and strengthened. If your loved one was saved, Jesus wants the truth of His Life to enter and comfort your heart. If you do not know that the person was saved, be at peace to know that we really don't know what happened in the last few moments before the death of your loved one. A decision for Christ may have been made, resulting in eternal life with God in heaven.
"Now also we would not have you ignorant, brethren, about those who fall asleep (in death), that you may not grieve (for them) as the rest do who have no hope (beyond the grave). For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will also bring with Him through Jesus those who have fallen asleep (in death)" (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, AMP).
He longs to turn your mourning into a song of joy, so that your attitude of confidence in His life beyond the grave will be a mighty strength to you and a witness to the world!
