ANGRY ACTION

"When is God going to give me a ministry?" some of you tonight may be asking. Someone once asked that of a famous evangelist and his answer was "When you get mad enough."

To understand his answer, consider what the greatest motivational force was behind all Jesus' spiritual warfare. Your response may be "I think it was love," but actually, it was anger. Because He loved us so much, Jesus was filled with holy wrath over what Satan was getting away with – and that was what propelled Him to go to war. Righteous outrage continuously energized Him and caused Him to mobilize all the resources in heaven and earth to fight on our behalf.

The prophet Nahum put it this way: "The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance on his foes and maintains his wrath against his enemies" (Nahum 1:2, NIV).

When righteously used, anger is energy. Do you have that well-spring of outrage over what Satan is doing to lost and hurting souls? If not, pray for it. Ask God to open your eyes tonight to the truth of what the devourer is doing – and to the power He has given you to stop it! Until you get mad enough, your scope of ministry could be severely curtailed. Rest tonight to prepare for victorious battle tomorrow!

Heavenly Father, thank you for opening my eyes. I confess that my zeal and determination has been lukewarm. Fill me with Your awareness and Your wrath over what the enemy is doing, so that in Your power, Your authority, and Your love, I become "fighting mad." Then victory will come! In Jesus' Name, Amen.
