THE ENDLESS SHOWER

Have you ever lain awake all night trying to come up with a brilliant idea? Perhaps nothing happened until you hopped into the shower the next day. Then, hallelujah, all the ideas came. Why?

I think it is a matter of what one person called “relaxed receptivity.” As the hot, soothing streams massaged your muscles and the pulsating sounds of the water shut out all cares, the Father of creativity could finally get His thoughts through  because you were at last in a state to receive. You’re like a little child in that shower – perhaps, that’s the key. With all mental blocks, frustration, preconceived ideas and opinions on “hold,” your mind is relaxed, pliable and open.

After years of working with creative people at World Evangelism, I’ve learned that this relaxed, creative attitude is much like the one Jesus talked about when He said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it” (Mark 10:14-15, NKJV).

It’s easy to enter this relaxed, creative “Kingdom of God” state in the shower but don’t limit yourself. You can learn to be as open and receptive as a “little child” and receive His thoughts wherever you are...in the office, the car, the yard and even in your bed!

Heavenly Father, I praise You for being both the Source and the Giver of creativity. Help me to become as a little child in Your Kingdom of unlimited possibilities...to tap into your “endless shower” of creative thought wherever I am, so that my ingenuity will be a true testimony to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
